On Sreen Keyboard

Have you ever noticed that that you can use the onscreen keyboard to enter information in any box on the screen except when typing a new website in the browser? This is a big drawback on the T-Mobile G1. I should be able to you the onscreen keyboard for all purposes, after all, if I’m using the onscreen keyboard, I don’t want to be bothered with opening the phone to type the website name.

G1 Navigation

The Nav4all Navigation App

Now Nav4all is the best navigation app so far that I have seen for the G1. Despite its occasional slowness, It can be used to plan a route, find points of interests, save your locations. Also it has the most options I've ever seen in a mobile phone navigation app thus far. Its just so many, you have to try it and see, too many to list. Its the best Nav App on the G1!!! Especially because it speaks.

My Top Favorite G1 Apps

I have my GI and I’m loving it!

I have to emphasize that the Google G1 is one of the most versatile devices available on the market. By using the Android platform, developers have created numerous applications for the G1. My top favorite are the: ShopSavvy, Ak Notepad, ConnectBot, Facebook, Maps, email, PF Voicemail, Power Manager and the Weather Channel.

ShopSavvy:

If you are a person who loves purchase things online, like myself or in the store, ShopSavvy is the app for you!! Imagine the ease of just scanning the barcode (or entering in it with the keypad) of a product and finding a list of locations that has it both online and locally that has it in stock and list the prices. This time and money! No more driving around, skipping from store to store to find the cheapest price, after all we are in a recession so we have to stretch every dollar! This app comes in very handy. I give it 5 stars

Ak Notepad:

AK notepad is the perfect app for on the go people. No more writing a note in you text message and saving it to draft. Yeah, I used to do that too. Just jot your notes in AK notepad and save. I give it 4 stars

Connect Bot:

For all my Computer Science people out there using ssh to connect to their severs, yup this is it! The ssh app for the G1. Works great! and you can connect to multiple severs at a time. Its one of my most favorite apps! I give it 5 stars

Facebook:

The FaceBook app! Is my next favorite because of ease of use and the fact that you can actually do everything like accessing your facebook in your regular browser. I give it 5 stars

Email:

If you have multiple email accounts, the G1 keeps you connected to all of them. And all at once. No matter which one; Yahoo, aol, gmail, msn, school email, work email, your G1 got you connected. I give it 5 stras.

PF Voicemail:

My next most favorite app! I want to thank the genius who came up with this app. Never seen anything like it. Works great! Imagine just playing you voice mail messages without dialing into your voice mailbox (v-mailbox) and listening to that long boring lady over and over and over again telling you how to check your message. I don’t know about you, but I was annoyed by woman. With PF Voicemail just download and listen your voice mail (v-mail) with touch of a button. Oh, another thing, its show the date and time of the voicemail, its length and the duration of the message. You can pause, rewind, and fast-forward if you like, also It give you the number that called, and if the number is in your contact, the name show up on the message after its downloaded so you don’t have to listen to that boring lady to figure out what your extra options are. I give it 5 stars.

Power Manager:

My Next most favorite app! This accesses the features on your phone that consumes the most power and switch them off when they are not being used or as the battery life gets low. May people realize the power consumption of the G1 and said the battery dies quickly, without realizing that the G1 has many features such as (blue tooth, GPS, 3G, Wifi, and more) and if you got all these features running at the same time, your battery will die quickly because its not hooked up to a power supply. All phones come with power constraints and the battery don’t last forever, so the more features running the more power will be used up. The power manager is one of the Best apps for the G1. It’s a must have. I give it 5 stars.

The Weather Channel:

This app is wonderful. Must have! It is up to date and very informative. It even gives you any weather warnings in the area your area and even cam views of cites and other videos. I give it 5 stars.

Maps:

One of Google’s great apps! Find points of interest in your location and direction to anywhere. I give it 5 stars.
